bakari.ai is an AI assistant that answers questions about text you select and screen regions you capture. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and password when you create an account. Your password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text.
- Conversations: the questions you ask and the answers you receive, so you can review them later in your dashboard.
- Context you explicitly attach: text you select and choose to send, and screen regions you capture yourself. The extension never reads page content, browsing history, or screenshots in the background — nothing is transmitted until you explicitly ask a question.
- Usage data: a daily count of AI requests per account, used only to enforce usage limits.
How we use your data
- To answer your questions: the text or image you attach is sent to our AI provider solely to generate your answer.
- To provide the service: storing your conversations, enforcing daily usage limits, and keeping your account secure.
- We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers required to run the service (hosting, database, authentication, and AI processing).
Chrome extension
- The extension only runs on ai-virtualassistant.ca and pages where you explicitly use it. It has no access to your browsing history and collects nothing in the background.
- Selected text is sent only when you choose “Ask bakari.ai about selected text”. Screen captures are taken only after you click “Capture screen” and drag to select a region — the capture covers only the visible area you select.
- Your sign-in session is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage and is never shared with other extensions or websites.
Data retention and deletion
- Your conversations are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Screen capture images are used to answer your question and are not stored in your conversation history.
- To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below and we will remove it.
Security
- All traffic between your browser, the extension, and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS.
- AI requests are processed server-side so that no API keys or secrets are ever exposed to your browser or the extension.
- Access to your data is restricted to your own account through row-level security rules in our database.
Changes to this policy
- If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the date below. Continued use of bakari.ai after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
